Anne Howarth is a freelance horn player and chamber musician in high demand in the Boston Area. In addition to holding Principal Horn chairs with the Lexington Symphony and Plymouth Philharmonic, Anne appears regularly in area ensembles including the Portland Symphony, Hartford Symphony, Rhode Island Philharmonic, and Boston Symphony Orchestra. She is a founding member of the mixed-instrumentation chamber group Radius Ensemble and serves as its outreach director. Fueled by an interest in the intersection between music and dance, Anne has collaborated with Monkeyhouse and dancer/choreographer Karen Krolak.
Anne teaches horn and coaches chamber music at Tufts University and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI), maintains a private studio, and is on the horn faculties of the Brookline Music School and the University of Massachusetts at Boston. Anne studied at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich and Yale University’s Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, attended chamber music sessions at BUTI, and holds degrees from Oberlin College, Oberlin College Conservatory, and New England Conservatory.
