Bassoonist Alexandra Berndt is one of the newest additions to the Vento Chiaro woodwind quintet. A native of Michigan, she has performed with the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops Orchestra and as soloist with the Charles River Wind Ensemble in Boston. A 2010 Tanglewood Music Center Fellow, she has also attended the summer music festivals at the Brevard Music Center and Banff Centre and has performed under the baton of renowned conductors Christoph von Dohnányi, Keith Lockhart, John Williams, Robert Spano, Michael Tilson Thomas, Raphael Frühbeck de Burgos, and Hugh Wolff. Currently freelancing and teaching in Boston, Alexandra received her Bachelor of Music summa cum laude from Northwestern University and Master of Music from the New England Conservatory. Her principal teachers include Lewis Kirk, David Seidel, Christopher Millard, Richard Ranti and Suzanne Nelsen.
